Did you know that Fye Bridge isn’t the oldest bridge, but it’s the oldest known crossing point on the River Wensum?
Fye Bridge isn’t the oldest bridge in Norwich, but there are records of a bridge being built on this site in 1153 making it the oldest known crossing point on the River Wensum. The picturesque Quayside, shown here covered in some of the deepest snow we’ve seen in a while in Norwich, was once a thriving quay. Its warehouses since turned into houses, it’s difficult to imagine what life would have been like back in the 1930’s when the area had become a slum. Perhaps you have memories of this beautiful part of Norwich, maybe your families worked in the warehouses here? Want to have fun and discover more about Norwich’s history, then book here.
