Did you know that Elm Hill isn’t Norwich’s oldest street?
While Elm Hill is often considered the prettiest street in Norwich and dates back to around 1200, it’s not actually the oldest! Timberhill (or Swinemarket Hill as it was originally known) pre-dates it but the buildings were sadly destroyed during the Norwich Blitz of 1942. Elm Hill’s tranquil cobbled street is the scene on many a postcard and many of Norwich’s oldest streets feature in our games at The Guildhall.
